the topic. -- Which is IMPORTANT.
Kay Bailey
Hutchinson said basically the same thing.
Gephardt, in
his address to Congress, ranted for 10 minutes on how the
assault on our FREEDOM (shouted by him at least a dozen times)
would not be tolerated. Then he said, and this is a pretty
close paraphrasing, “Yesterday the nature of freedom changed.
[At which point I jumped out of my chair and yelled “F$^k
you!” at the TV screen.] Now we will have to come to an
agreement with *our people* [Yeah, right. They own us.] about
the new balance that must be struck between freedom and
security.”
On the positive side, about an hour or so
later, Donald Rumsfeld spoke very aggressively about how the
evil purpose of terrorism was to force people to sacrifice
freedom for security. Rumsfeld also spoke strongly about the
lax attitude that had developed regarding protection of
classified information.
BTW, after having spent a good
part of the afternoon watching Bush cabinet members’ press
conferences I came away with the sense that I was very glad
these men were at the helm and not Clinton’s politically
correct inept bunch of boobs.
