So let's see if I've got this right? Sheri Nakken starts a thread at "[gov] Tom Daschle Just Said We'd have to GIVE UP FREEDOMS" in which she makes a perfectly innocuous post that contained no content about religion whatsoever. Jesse takes a cheap shot at Sheri attacking her personally because she happens to be an atheist (I never even knew that until just now). Sheri responds with the statement that religious fanaticism is responsible for the attack on the NYC Twin Towers (a statement which is corroborated by a London news service which said: "An Arab journalist with access to Bin Laden said today that the terrorist leader warned three weeks ago that he and his followers would carry out an unprecedented attack on US interests for its support of Israel" and "The next most effective anti-Israeli guerrilla force to Bin Laden must be Hezbollah (the Party of God), based in south Lebanon").

Dennis calls Sheri's response "anti-religion ranting" by a "raving Atheist" and equates atheism with Socialism, while Jesse's slam against Sheri that instigated the exchange receives not so much as a slap on the wrist.

Though Chuck points out that "Sheri did NOT initiate the thread drift. That was a RESPONSE", INVAR proceeds to call Sheri a "bitch" and says "I don't give a shit what protocols or thread etiquette I am supposed to regard here" and "I will not let that sit without putting blood on the blade." Dennis agrees, and locks the thread.

They say a crisis brings out a person's true colors, whether those colors happen to be the best or the worst in the person. I hope that's not true.

Dennis, I suggest you add a seventh rule to the Rules for Posting page. Add one that says: "Atheists Keep Out. Only members of the Judeo-Christian community are welcome here." That rule already exists, you may as well make it explicit. Lock this post, delete it and/or ban me - frankly, I don't give a damn.

What makes me indignant is the constant tying in of world events to a mythical book that is politically motivated and has been politically motivated, revised and re-written for 2000 years. I will NOT STAND for that kind of thing being posted on this board. That is a FLAGRANT violation of the no-bashing rule. The thread belonged in TIO. Whether or not she was subjected to a "cheap shot", there are LOTS of ways to respond to it, other than her chest-puffing rant. Also other than YOURS.

I have never belittled those who have no faith. But I will NOT tolerate this kind of self-serving shit, either from Sheri, or from YOU. One or both of you are free to live your lives on Unks, if you feel the need to push these kind of posts down peoples' throats.

I am offended by her statement, and I am offended by YOURS.

ANY further rants will be immediately moved to TIO. Repeated posting of this kind of thing will not be tolerated. Period.
